Its been good to get back out onstage and play again- We were cooped up for so long in the studio, I think we almost forgot how great it is to play live....And when you can come back with new tunes and a new drive, its makes it extra special.
So far, we've done a couple of gigs in LA (got another one tonight- private show) and have recieved some great feedback from fans on the new tunes. Next week, we're hitting the Viper Room to melt some faces, and then its off to NYC for our first show at Bowery Ballroom....
Both of those gigs should be classic- Old friends, new fans, new tunes, good times. Also, we've got a four song promo disc to give away to anyone who shows, so it you want to hear some of the new tunes before the album comes out, this is the way to do it.
Still working on the best way to release the record, so please be patient- believe me, we want it out there more than anyone! In the meantime, keep writing us (MySpace, Facebook, Website, whatever)- We promise we'll get back to everyone who drops a line....
We're going to be filming a video for our song "Collide" while we're in NYC...hopefully we'll take notes and hit you guys up with some funny stories of us trying act! Keep the music playing,
Jim

We Finished Midnight In The City!!
I just visited rusemusic.com for the first time in a while. We have been working really hard finishing our record and just started rehearsals again. I was overwhelmed to see people leaving guest book comments from all over the world...thank you. Its great to see that so many people have gotten to hear our music. I am making a resolution to write more journal entries and hopefully the rest of the band will want to do the same.
We started the journey to make this record more than a year ago when our friend Louie, who was working at capitol records at the time, introduced us to producer Chris Karn who helped us demo a few tracks for capitol. For reasons beyond our control we didn't get a deal with capitol but we did start a long lasting friendship with Chris. When we started the new record we went in to the studio and did about 7 songs with Chris. After much internal debate we decided to meet with a bunch of other producers and try to take the record in a different direction.
We wound up making the mistake of deciding to work with Danny Saber who has been around the block to say the least. He has worked with The Rolling Stones, U2, Michael Hutchence and many more. He took us in a different direction than we have ever been before and really helped us think about arrangements and the importance of tone. After working with Danny for many months we decided that we still hadn't quite captured the sound we had in our heads.
All this led us to work with producer Jorge Vivo who actually mixed our last record 'Light In Motion" and our Live EP. Jorge hails from Spain, has golden ears and is the hardest working person we have met in the music biz. The fit was right and we were finally able to make the record that we all thought we could make. We just finished about a week ago and have already posted 2 of the new songs to our myspace.
Right now we are doing everything we can to figure out the best way to release this record and get it out to as many people as possible around the world but we need your help so please help us spread the word by telling everyone you know to check us out.
We can't wait for you to hear our new record Midnight In The City!! Thank you all so much for your support and keep leaving guest book comments...we read them all!

The Home Stretch...
Happy New Year! Thanks for checking into Ruse Town....
A couple of updates-
We will be doing an online chat on Weds Jan 16th 7:30pm PT. You will be able to ask us questions and we might even play you a song or two. All this goes down on our web cam site: www.justin.tv/theruse
We're recording the vocals on the new album- Right now, its shaping up to be 11 tracks, all of them hand picked for juicy goodness by Jorge Vivo, our producer/life-coach. After the vocals are finished, the tunes will be into the mixing/mastering stage and finally ready to go..
We're gonna do a BIG push for this album, and the timing of the release has to be just right- so please be patient!
We think its our best work ever, and we can't wait for you guys to hear it....Until then, keep rocking and hit us up whenever you're feeling like you need a Ruse fix!

Studio update!
Hello and Happy Holidaze!
It has been a long year of writing, recording, waiting, throwing away, fighting, mixing, un-mixing, laughing, losing faith, believing and more recording! So we are happy to report that yes the next record is sounding amazing so far. We are in a really good creative space now and the songs are I think above and beyond anything we thought we were capable of! We are currently in the studio with producer Jorge Vivo and we will have this great beast of a record finished in about two months. We have really taken our time with this one to make sure that it truly is the greatest record ever! Can’t wait for you to hear it!!!! Check out the photo section in a few days for some fun ruse in the studio shots!
We recently had a bit of a fright when the Malibu wildfires almost burned down the studio with all of our gear inside! Praise Jah no one was hurt and nothing of ours was lost... sorry about your truck Brandon :( click on this gnarly picture to feel the heat --->
